SpaceX Starship Set for Fourth Flight Test

Launch Scheduled for Thursday Morning

Most Powerful Launch Vehicle Ever Built to Lift Off

June 6, 2024 (5:04 AM) - SpaceX's Starship, the most powerful launch vehicle ever built, is set to lift off on its fourth flight test on Thursday morning. The highly anticipated event is a major milestone in the development of the spacecraft, which is designed to carry humans and cargo to Mars and other destinations beyond Earth's orbit.

The launch has been authorized by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), which issued a commercial launch license for the test flight. The Starship Super Heavy vehicle is scheduled to lift off from SpaceX's Starbase facility in Boca Chica, Texas, at approximately 9:00 AM CT (10:00 AM ET). The flight will be a short hop, designed to test the vehicle's engines, avionics, and overall performance.

The Starship rocket is a fully reusable spacecraft, capable of transporting up to 100 metric tons of payload into orbit. It is powered by a cluster of 33 Raptor engines, which burn liquid methane and liquid oxygen. The spacecraft is designed to be able to land on the Moon, Mars, and other celestial bodies.

The fourth flight test is a crucial step in the development of Starship. The successful completion of the test will pave the way for future missions, including a planned crewed flight to the Moon in the coming years.
