Kemba Walker Questionable for Upcoming Game

Injury Update: Noel to Miss Second Straight Matchup

Nerlens Noel of the New York Knicks has been diagnosed with a concussion following a hard elbow to the head during the team's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The incident, which occurred on Monday, May 3, 2021, has forced Noel to miss Monday's game in Memphis and will also keep him out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Noel had not been listed on the injury report in the Knicks' first two games after the All-Star break, but he did not play in either contest. The concussion diagnosis now explains his absence and the team will need to adjust their lineup in his absence.

With Noel out, the Knicks may start Taj Gibson at center and use Norvel Pelle as his backup. Gibson, a veteran big man, has averaged 5.8 points and 5.3 rebounds per game this season. Pelle, a younger and less experienced player, has averaged 2.5 points and 2.4 rebounds per game.

The Knicks will be hoping that Noel's concussion is not serious and that he can return to the lineup soon. The team is currently in a playoff race and with just over a month remaining in the regular season, every player is needed to contribute.
